The Thrill

Friday night I was blessed with a call from AMP Radio inviting me to watch Miguel in a private and intimate setting at the Red Bull Sound Space in LA. That was the second heart attack of the day. The first was in the morning when I found myself featured on Teen Vogue. And I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one.

Yesterday morning I drove to Riverside and met up with Andrew, who was my plus one for the event. We were beaming with excitement. I've had the opportunity to watch Miguel when he opened for Trey Songz's Chapter V Tour and of all the artists I've seen live, Miguel's easily in my top three. So being given the opportunity to see him again was such a blessing. The mini concert for an audience of about a hundred started off with a short interview portion where he talked Grammys, collaborations, and inspiration. He then put on a mind-blowing mashup performance of his songs off Kaleidoscope Dream - including some throwbacks like 'Sure Thing'. (In which he ended with an over-the-shoulder pose eyein' me, eyein' him, eyein' me for a good minute.) Consider me swooned for life. His energetic stage presence is so dynamic and his passion isn't just displayed through his soulful voice but in his movement as well. He's been in the business for a while and I'm so glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves. I think it's safe to make the assumption that if you haven't seen him perform live yet, you have not lived.

I'm sure everyone walked out of that venue hypnotized and dazed. Andrew and I sat in the car floating on cloud nine, unable to think straight, erratically screaming out every synonym for the word 'sexy' to describe what we had just witnessed. We battled through LA traffic and ended our day at Disneyland. Tried Earl of Sandwich for the first time and I honestly couldn't tell you if it was good or not because we inhaled it like it was our last meal on death row. Surprisingly, we were able to fit in a good amount of rides in a short time frame and were even fortunate enough to be seated front row on every single ride. To put it simple, yesterday was just as surreal as it gets.

    1. If you're into hip hop and R&B I would definitely recommend his music! And thank you, I've missed Disneyland myself!
