Mushroom Caves Photo Diary

I went on a mini hike crossing over train tracks, following a trail by a lagoon, and veering off the beaten path to a completely hidden area called Mushroom Caves. Narrow crevices embellished with spray paint, such a unique place and definitely a sight for sore eyes. The hike to get there, itself, isn't difficult at all but spotting it would have been impossible if I hadn't gone with Jill, who had been once before. There are no signs to direct you to it but that's kind of what makes this place so special. As you squeeze through the narrows, you will eventually reach the very top of the caves where you are greeted with an amazing view of the lagoon and San Elijo beach. The climb up and the descent down are a bit slippery but that's the beauty in the struggle! Fun, short hike to a quirky hidden gem.

I've recently partnered with Solo Eyewear as a Creative Ambassador and am so stoked to be representing a company with a mission to give. For each pair purchased they fund eye care for someone in need! For more info and to shop their collection, check them out at
