Portland Photo Diary

For my best friend's 23rd birthday, we rallied up our friends and spent a weekend in Portland. I fell in love with the city as soon as we exited the airport. For a girl born and raised in southern California, autumn was a sight to see! The trees and the leaves and the crisp, cool air... ugh, so breathtakingly beautiful. In the few short days we spent there, I decided I could definitely see myself living there. I loved the small-towny vibe, how they're all about supporting small local businesses, and how ridiculously friendly everyone was.

Our first full day in Portland was spent getting up at the crack of dawn to grab breakfast at Pine State Biscuits before making our way to Silver Falls State Park. We hiked the Trail of Ten Falls but only got to see eight which was more than enough for me! In the span of six miles I saw more waterfalls in a day than I probably have in the past year. Also, getting to hike behind the waterfalls was a game changer. To feel the power of the raging water from above was something else. After a quick refresher back at our Airbnb, we went to St. Helens to check out the real life Halloweentown! Childhood dreams were fulfilled that night. We grabbed dinner at this Thai chicken wing place called Pok Pok and ice cream at Salt & Straw- both of which lived up to the hype. Satisfied tummies after a long day of exploring.

The next day we went to the infamous, Multnomah Falls. So beautiful even after seeing eight waterfalls the day before! After spending a while at the falls we continued on with our jam packed itinerary hitting up the Vista House, the Portland Women's Forum State Park, lunch at Screen Door, checking out the view from Pittock Mansion, driving over the St. John's Bridge, dropping all our money at the Adidas HQ, getting lost at Powell's Books, dinner at Pine Street Market, dessert at Voodoo Doughnuts, and then drinking four too many bottles of wine at our Airbnb.

Our last day was dedicated to a stop at Stumptown for some coffee and a shopping spree at the Nike HQ. The 24 hours after included five flight delays, a night spent in the SFO airport, a Chance the Rapper spotting in the morning, Darth Vader trying to steal our breakfast, and finally landing back in San Diego... A delirious, stressful, but interesting end to an amazing weekend in Portland!
