I've always wanted to throw a kamayan and I finally got to host one for our joint late Thanksgiving/early Christmas holiday celebration! We had it at De Anza Cove Park off Mission Bay and it was a perfect day for it. Only in San Diego can you have a holiday picnic by the water in mid-December. Aside from the salt and pepper chicken wings from Royal Mandarin, I hired my momma to cook shrimp, longanisa, barbecue pork skewers, corn, and garlic rice. The table was set with banana leaves, edible flowers, mangos, candy canes, everyone's fave alcohol in tiny one-shot form, and wooden coasters personally customized with everyone's drunk names by my talented friend, Jansen (@lettersbyjansen on Instagram!) He also did the beautiful canvas signs on the side of the table. Loved spending time with great company, eating delicious food, while listening to Christmas tunes! So thankful for all these lovely souls in my life.
